The “Olympic Games of Green Architecture” was founded in 1999 by the Department Of Energy of the United States. The first competition was held in the area of the National Mall in Washington D.C.in 2002.Eight years later it moved to Madrid with the name of Solar Decathlon Europe. The purpose of the competition is to promote the creation of self sufficient energy saving prototype dwellings based on solar energy.

The keywords of this year competition are energy, environment, society.

The different universities take part to the competition with multidisciplinary teams through the scientific contribution of professors and students work involved in the whole process conceptual and construction.
