SOLAR RADIATION ANALYSIS

 

At this stage of the analysis, I verified the effects of solar radiation on my area.

 

Thanks to the Ecotec Solar Radiation I could control the solar energy (kWh / mq) that the area absorbs each hour of the day,

setting the parameters that most interested me.

 

 

First of all I changed the masses of my buildings, concerning the items that I felt could visibly affect the analysis I wanted to affront:

 

 

 

 

. deep eaves, above which are often developed balconies.

. the course of gilitti street, about the remarkable difference in level between rattazzi street and cappellini street , that surround one of the blocks.

. the facade of Termini train station, especially what concerns the upper arches, which are very deep.

I decided to use the Ecotec Solar Radiation to have a global view of the course of radiation over the seasons.

I fixed the periods of analysis at 4 months, regarding the whole day,

from sunrise to sunset.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Through these operations I have noticed, as previously in the study of shadows,

that the trend of the facades remains rather regular and uniform between buildings.

 

 

The rare balconies, of a width not exceeding 2m, except for the balconies-eaves, are located on the noble floors, where the screening function of the projection does not seem to be the main one.

The facades on the street do not have indentations or lodges.

 

the streets and the facades never reach the highest levels of radiation, as it happens for the roofs,

in fact they are always mitigated by the presence of dense tissue.

 

the rare oblique elements, as part of pitched roofs, perceive the maximum irradiance and assure even a slight shadow to the surrounding areas,

alternating between a pitch and the other.

 

the courtyard, even in the hottest summer months are not affected by radiation levels too high, they are always little shaded.

 

 

 

 

Analyzing the courtyard of my building I could see that the wall facing north has moss on top.
