Good evening i am now introducing the first exercise of a simple shadow study with the program Autodesk Vasari. For the delivery we have to analize the behavior of the shadow in certain time of the day, so for the first part of the study we have to look in person and take photos of the choosen building. The other part is the comparison between the photos and the simplification on the computer of the area.
the building is located in the south of Rome, in the neighborhood of Spinaceto on a small hill.
I decide to analize the building at 12.30 am and at 3.30 pm in March. we can look immediately that the big trees around the biulding play a big roule in the shading. the shading are quite interesting and they create new geometry and drawings that embellish the building. i have notice that the balcony and the kitchen are at SE where the sun is usually present during all the year and in the hours where we need it. The living room with big windows is at south and here a big tree shadow the other prospect that is without balcony and with smaller windows.
that to understand the complete process of the shading and so all the absects about the building i have analized the behaviour in all the area in the equinow and solstice for the two longitudinal prospects in primis. the NW prospect is, except for the Spring Equinox, in the shading all time, while the SE the contrary but all over the year. So the internal distribution of the house and all the architectual elements can be now looked in an other prospective.
hope that you can find this study interesting and that you will be stimoleted to do this and look to the architecture not like simple buildings but place to live.
