After making the soil with CREATE MASS I have selected my front’s plan to create, with the drawing tools, the bases in order to extrude the balconies which are the main projection in the building (MODEL-> SET-> PICK A PLAN). In order to analize the heat energy for unit of area in the different time of the year I have use the command SOLAR RADIATION so I chose the period of interest and with the “thermometer” and different colors I was able to observe the differeces bewteen the situations.
Analysis
I have decided to analyze the different heat energy of fronts and soil in summer months (from 21th June to 21th September) and in winter months (from 21th Dicember to 21th March).
SUMMER MONTHS
North-East front: I can observe the surfaces hottest are the roofs (421kWh/m2), the long balconies have a middle warmth (210.5kWh/m2) and these, shading the walls below, modify the heat energy of the North-East front. In fact, it’s possible to observe the difference between my building and the others without projections and the others are hotter than mine. It’s very interesting the color gradient on this front because I can confirm that in summer months the ground floor is cool and pleasant inside the second floor is muggy.
The fronts coldest are North-West front.
South-West front: I can observe that my palace is slightly cooler than other buildings because the edifice at the back shade the mine and so shield from the sunlight. But obviously these fronts are hotter than the others and I confirm that in these side the badrooms are always very hot in the afternoon.
WINTER MONTHS
North-East front: I can observe that the maximus heat (121.6kWh/m2) is four time smaller than summer period and, in general, the roofs don’t reach this one. The North-West front remain the coldest and I have noted that, on this side, the paved area under my building, being in winter both shaded and wet, is characterized by the presence of moss.
South-East front: the difference with the summer period is that, in winter months, this front is the hottest of the palace. Inside for the South-West front I can do the same observation namely that my building is colder than others in the same orientation.
