ES_2 LAB_6 Solar Radiation Analysis, Via Ostiense (Roma), Pietro Meneghello

In this second exercise i tried to study the solar radiation during the several season in particular in Summer (from June to September) and Winter (end of November - end of March).

Once modeled the building where I live with balconies, cornices and other elements, I saw how the program displays the sunniest areas, the shadows and how the architectural projections are a disadvantage or favor for the facades of the buildings.

As we can see, during the summer months, solar radiation reaches 410 kWh / m² on the roofs of the buildings on the block, while on the facades on the street is less direct. It may also notice that inside the courtyard formed by surrounding buildings, there is almost always shadow created by the height and the orientation of those: here the radiation is about 200 kWh / . During the winter the radiation reaches the peak of 130/140 kWh / .

Below I show the different radiation for the facades north-west and south-east, in summer and in winter:

North - West, Summer

South - East, Summer

North - West, Winter

South - East, Winter
