To create a parametric vegetation , first of all, I chose a tree which is located in the garden adjacent to my building. The tree belongs to the family of conifers, infact it seems like a fir, with his leaves needlelike, but Its Height does not exceed 5 meters.

PROCESS

1-To start the parametric vegetation modelling you have to start Vasari, then create a New Family  . Create new levels and then rename it.

2- Now you can start drawing by creating the base of the trunk with a simple circle on Level 0 (Base trunk). After creating the cirle, click on Aligned dimension, then on Radial dimension types and finally on the cirle to create the dimension.

3-To parameterize the dimension and give it the right name, you have to click on Label and then on Add parameter.

4-After creating the trunk, you have to align it with the right level: Click on Align (A+L on the keyboard) and then click on the open padlock to close it to allow the surface to be moved with is own level.

5- Now you need to create the foliage of the tree. Begin by creating a cirle on the top the trunk  and a cirle at the maxim heigh of the all tree. Align the different cirle to the right level (ex the first cirle must be aligned with the Level inizio chioma. Now you have to create a line joining the two different circle. In the property of the line you have to tick Is Reference Line. Now selecting the line and the two cirle Vasari will create a first  foliage.

(As you can see in the first picture, I have created the cirle of the maxim foliage and this is wrong because the program, when you need to create the foliage with the first and the last cirle, will not create the volume)

6-to add a new profile inside the mass, to create a volume as similar as possible to the real tree, you have to click on X Ray so as to create a new circle (Maxim diameter of the foliage) with the same center of the other two. Then click on Add Profile, create the cirle, and align it with the right level. Parameterizing the new circle, the entire foliage will change, becoming more similar to the reality.
