Es.5_Lab6_Persichella_Tatti

In this assignment we should have done a solar analysis of the glass surfaces of our project. Unfortunately we haven't studied yet the facades of our building so we decided to make a solar analysis of the terraces (one the most important characteristic of the building) to make sure they have a good orientation so that the tenants can use them as much as possible.

 the building (SW facade)

as we can see the building is characterized by many different terraces, created by the continuos movement of the facade.

The other building we analyzed is located in via Manlio Torquato and is characterized by two different typologies of terraces:

the first type is intradossed and has the shadings of the upper floor, so the solar radiation is less;

instead the second type is the last floor's terrace, that have no shadings and gets all the sun light without any shieldings.

Once we analyzed the building with Vasari's tool "Solar Radiation" we passed to our project to decide which type of terraces we should have used to have better conditions on them. The sun light in Terni is not that strong, expecially during the winter season, (as we see in the img.1), so we decided to have the terraces not covered from the upper floors, so they can be used also during winter as the sun almost always beats on that facade. On the other side, during the summer season, (as we see in the img.2), the terraces are really hot, so we thought we could place some movable pergolas to avoid too much solar radiation.
