Aperitif at Catalani's atelier - Rome, 11 July 2012
Wednesday the 11th of July an aperitif has been organized by Med in Italy and the artist Catalani.
The event, that took place at the Catalani's atelier, was made to unveil the completed work of the Med in Italy's anchovy.
The fresco of the anchovy, size 2 to 12 meters, will decore the main wall of the house. The big anchovy of our seas, chosen to promote sustainable fisheries, is painted with green photoluminescent pigments of Bright Materials, which are loaded with light by day and illuminate at night.
During the evening there were a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Policies to illustrate the vision of the Italian government on food production in low energy and environmental impacts. The head of Greenpeace campaigns Alessandro Giannì talked about the status of our seas and the need to orient the fishing fleet in the Mediterranean towards sustainable fisheries.
The chef Alessandro Borghese, who realized the menu of the house, led the MED in Italy team in the preparation of one of the dishes that will be proposed during the decathlon, which will be a test to bear to get the green architecture oscar.
At the event also participated Carlo Alberto Pratesi- sponsorship manager of Med in Italy and Professor of Economy, Business Administration and Business Communication at Roma Tre University.
It was the team leader Chiara Tonelli, professor of Architecture at Roma Tre, explaining the operation of MED in Italy, the 100% sustainable home that produces all the energy it needs to function. The prototype of the house is in these days under construction at Rubner Haus in South Tyrol.
