FOUR STEPS TO THE SOLAR ANALYSIS

FIRST STEP: I’ve added elements to the 3d model (like windows) created for the first exercise. I’ve pressed ‘finish mass’.

SECOND STEP: I’ve pressed on ‘analyze’ and then on ‘solar analyze’.

THIRD STEP: In the window I changed some elements like type and unit (KWh/mq).After  I’ve selected mass faces to analyze.

FOURTH STEP: Finally, I’ve pressed on ‘sun study’ and I’ve selected the chosen period for my analyze.

GENERAL CONSIDERATION

I have analyzed my zone in spring, summer and winter, particularly because I wanted to know different solar radiations values during seasons. In fact the colors, that describe the solar radiation is always similar for all,but the solar radiation change radically.

                      SPRING 362,3 KWh/mq

                      SUMMER 402,5 KWh/mq

                      WINTER 34,4 KWh/mq

The kilowatt hour represent the energy transmitted over a period of time, so this analyze is useful to understand how much warmth arrive on facades.

First of all I tried to understand the actual amount of 34 KWh/mq(winter). Is it much or not?

I took a bi-monthly electricity bill (November-december);the  consumption electrical was of 600 KWh  for 120 mq and so 5 KWh/mq for two winter months. So the solar radiation that arrive on the flat roof (30 KWh/mq) is about six times more than the bimonthly consumption of my apartment!

It is much for my house, but if I consider all my building, this radiation not be enough for all apartments, especially considering the installation of solar panels (although the factors that fall for a precise calculation are many, this is an approximation used to understand the amount)

NORTH-WEST FAÇADE

I’ve chosen this facade, and so this orientation, thanks to easiness of entrance. My building not have particularly forms to consider, like balconies, but only four indentations, that create a central corp, especially useful for shading afternoon, like I’ve said previously.

The most important color is the blue especially on the north façade and the violet on the north-west façade, that be approximately 100 KWh/mq on summer and spring and only 10 KWh/mq on winter.

ENTRANCE COURTYARD

I’ve interested to analyze also my entrance courtyard because the solar radiation is different in the place.Near buildings the color is blue-violet  but there are some red part.

PARTICULAR 1-3. I have observed a significant amount of moss that grows in wet places and shortly touched by the sun.

PARTICULAR 2-4. is very obvious line humidity in contact with the ground. It is distinguished by the color much darker than the one above.

The cause for all is the lower radiation that arrive there. In fact the sun can be ‘’dry’’ the wall  and it prevent the formation of these phenomenon.
