Step 2 with project vasari: studying the solar radiation of our project

For the second step I thought it was more useful not to continue the study of the school in Valmelaina, but to study the solar radiation of the project that our group (me plus Silvia Volpe) is developing. She decided to do the same thing and so she did on her report, so I choose to put my mind into something different from her work.

My study is concentrate on the solar radiation of the north and west façades of the building of our projects and most of all on the solar radiations of the ground; that's because our project is very focused on public open spaces and pedestrian roads.

The façades are analysed in the first 5 images: as you can see, all the north façades are not exposed to solar radiation: probably in the final project because of that there will be no windows (or perhaps just the bathroom ones, for the ventilation). The West façades instead has a minimum solar radiation.

As for the ground areas, you can see that we have 4 main different situations: one smaller "square" on the north; one bigger "square" on the south; a long "bow-road" placed between our building on the West and the preexistent court building; the inner pedestrian road.

The first 3 are analysed in the first 5 images: of course the north and the south "squares" will have two completely different purposes in the final project. As for the "long bow-road", the medium solar radiation makes it an enjoyable public space.

The inner road, as you can see in the sixt image, is always shaded, so there's no solar radiation therefore. It was meant to be a space more private that the "bow-road", so there's no problem about it.
