Holm Oak characteristics:
For this exercise I've chosen to study the Holm Oak, a large evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region. It takes its name from holm, an ancient name for holly. It is a member of the white oak section of the genus, with acorns that mature in a single summer. Its height can reach 20-25 meters.

The project is made up by a housing part and a commercial part. The area is located between viale Marconi and via Ostiense on via del Porto Fluviale, just near the Testaccio area and the Garbatella area. Inside theproject area we have ruins so the project will have to relate with them.

For the 2nd exercise I had to add more details on my building such as openings and projections. The file is more complex than the one I used for the 1st exercise. In order to have these additional details I have used thecommands EDIT IN PLACE and VOID FORM. After completing the 3D model I have created a basic plan in order to analyze the results on the ground.

This is the study I’ve made for a building in Dragona, it’s between Rome and Ostia. It’s located in via Francesco Donati n.71. This building has 3 levels and the other architectures around it are not too high, the highest one has 4 levels. As we can see from the satellite image, there are no buildings to cover the East and West side, there’s only one building from South which can cover the sun light. The apartment is on the 1st floor and it has windows at East and West so it’s always full of light.
