L’analisi solare è un primo, e fondamentale, procedimento che ci permette di rapportare un edificio a tutto il contesto urbano limitrofo, attraverso lo studio dell’orientamento, dell’esposizione e dell’ombreggiamento. Utilizzando VASARI è possibile creare un modello volumetrico dell’area di interesse  per andarne a studiare il soleggiamento delle facciate dell’edificio preso in esame, in relazione ai fabbricati circostanti.

Once I opened Vasari , the first step was to set the measure units , converting to the metric system by the command "manage- units".

Then I set my area importing the geographical coordinates from google maps with the commands " Set Location " and " import site image . "

The studied area is located in Viale di Villa Pamphili, in Monteverde Vecchio district (Rm). The analysis of the shadows refers to the building  in Viale di Villa Pamphili 61. This building is an irregular volume and it is composed by six floor and  has a garden on the ground floor, at the street level.  The shadow analysis deals with  the study of the west front in different moments of the day. The pictures were taken in the day March 15, 2014 at strategic times : at 8.30 a.m. , 1.00 p.m., and then at 6.00 p.m.
